Training and Credentialing
Emory Sponsored Account: If you are a non-Emory employee, but will be working with an Emory PI, you will need to obtain an Emory sponsored account. Please contact Robert Migliore to begin this process.
Emory Learning Management System (ELMS): For Emory employees, use your Emory Log in and Password. For non-Emory Employees, please contact Robert Migliore for access.
CHOA Sponsored Account: If you are a non-CHOA employee, but will be conducting clinical research procedures in a CHOA facility, you will need to obtain a CHOA sponsored account. Please contact Terrell Faircloth to begin this process.

CHOA Credentialing: If you are a non-CHOA employee, but will be conducting clinical research procedures in a CHOA facility, you will need to obtain CHOA credentialing. Please complete the non-paid position on boarding packet to begin the CHOA credentialing process.
Emory Credentialing: If you are an Emory employee, will work with an Emory PI, or will conduct clinical research procedures in an Emory Healthcare or Emory University facility, you will need to obtain Emory credentialing. Course Registration Instructions
- Emory Courses: To take a course go to the Emory Learning Management System. Once you have logged in, click "Browse Catalog", scroll down to "the Office of Research Compliance", select the course name and then click "enroll". Please refer to the ELMS help document for instructions on how to print/save your certificate.

- CITI Program courses: Please login or create an account on the CITI Program website. Please remember to affiliate the appropriate institution.
- CHOA Courses: To take a course log into PeopleIQ. Get instructions to Find and Start a Learning Activity. Get instructions to Manage Learning Assignments.
The following trainings are required for all clinical research coordinators/nurses that will work with an Emory PI. These trainings must be completed before you can be added to an IRB approved study.
- HIPAA Security or Equivalent: Course required every 3 years. This course is a pre-requisite for the Introduction to Clinical Research 2-day classroom training.
- HIPAA Privacy or Equivalent: Course required every 3 years. This course is a pre-requisite for the Introduction to Clinical Research 2-day classroom training.
- HIPAA and Research or Equivalent: Course required every 3 years. This course is a pre-requisite for the Introduction to Clinical Research 2-day classroom training.
- CITI Biomedical: Course required every 3 years. This course is a pre-requisite for the Introduction to Clinical Research 2-day classroom training.
- CITI Good Clinical Practices (GCP) : Course required every 3 years. This course is a pre-requisite for the Introduction to Clinical Research 2-day classroom training.
- Introduction to Clinical Research (2-Day Classroom): Registration for this course is located on the Emory Learning Management System. See course registration instructions above.
If you are a CHOA employee or will conduct research procedures in a CHOA facility, you will need to complete the following courses:
- Advancing One is not Zero (classroom based training)
- Inpatient Researcher Chart Review (Online Module)
- Inpatient Researcher Epic Documentation (Online Module)
- Document Imaging (Online Module)
Additional Trainings:
- AHA Basic Life Support (BLS or CPR): Training required for all coordinators and nurses. Required every 2 years.
This is not a comprehensive list of trainings. You may require more trainings if you will handle biohazardous specimen, ship biohazards, etc. Please consult your immediate supervisor for more details.
