The Translational GI/Hepatology (GI-T32) research training program recruits and trains highly qualified and motivated postdoctoral fellows in Translational Gastroenterology and Hepatology. The training program emphasizes working at the interface between basic biology and translational medicine to fill important gaps in knowledge and therapeutics.

Trainees develop expertise as digestive health researchers under the oversight and guidance of the Executive Committee, choosing from mentors in Pediatrics, Medicine, Biochemistry and Pathology.  The training program incorporates a structured degree program in Masters of Science in Clinical Research or a Certificate in Translational Research, via the Laney Graduate School/Georgia Clinical & Translational Science Alliance (Georgia CTSA).

This training program is sustained through funding from the NIDDK of NIH under grant T32DK108735.

The Emory Translational GI/Hepatology (GI-T32) research training program was initiated in 2016 with NIH/NIDDK funding through an institutional T32 training grant.  The GI-T32 has a strong, dedicated faculty and an expert advisory committee as a result of our diverse mentor experience bridging the divisions in Pediatrics, Medicine, Biochemistry and Pathology.

Our program is focused on training postdoctoral fellows (MD, MD/PhD, and PhD).

Requirements

Postdoctoral candidate must have completed a PhD, MD, MD/PhD degree.  Applicants must be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States at the time of their appointment.
After screening for eligibility by the Program Director, Assoc Program Director, or the Admin Coordinator

Apply for the Post-Doctoral Translational GI/Hepatology training program, please submit all required documents in PDF file format (suggested font size 12 point) in the order listed below:

1. CV (must include citizenship status).
2. One-page description of previous/proposed research written by the candidate.
3. Applicant narrative of career goals (Half-page).
4. Applicant narrative of interest explanation of how participation in this Translational GI/Hepatology training program  would help to achieve goals (Half-page).
5. Letter of nomination/reference from mentor which should include name and telephone number.

For questions regarding the program, please call Dianne Miller, Admin Coordinator, 404-712-2467.  Please submit the Application with required documents via email to dmill06@emory.edu - (Subject line: GI-T32 Application 2020)

Deadline for Submission:  April 1,2020

The training program incorporates a structured degree program in "Masters of Science in Clinical Research (MSCR)" or a "Certificate in Translational Research", via the Laney Graduate School/Georgia Clinical & Translational Science Alliance (Georgia CTSA).

These training programs are highly recommended but are not mandatory.  Each fellow should investigate the programs to see if either would meet their overall career goals.

Our mentors reflect the broad array of disciplines comprising the clinical, research, and translational areas of Gastroenterology and Hepatology.

The potential fellow must contact the mentor directly to see if a collaboration is possible.

Here are the GI-T32 mentors as of August 1, 2019:
