With my background as a physician-scientist-engineer trained in pediatric hematology/oncology and bioengineering, my overall research interests involve developing and applying novel technologies using micro/nanotechnology, microfluidics, and cell mechanics to research, diagnose, and treat hematologic and oncologic processes. Comprised of engineers, clinicians, and biologists, our laboratory is also interested in the development, design, and implementation of novel medical devices for children, blood diseases and cancer. Our current specific projects focus on developing new technologies for sickle cell disease, platelet biology and thrombosis, endothelial/vascular biology, cancer metastasis, and hematopoietic stem cell biology.
