Amount: An instrument with a base cost of at least $600,001 up to a maximum award of $2,000,000

The High-End Instrumentation (HEI) Grant Program encourages applications from groups of NIH-supported investigators to purchase or upgrade a single item of expensive, specialized, commercially available instruments or integrated systems that cost at least $600,001. The maximum award is $2,000,000. Types of instruments supported include, but are not limited to: X-ray diffraction systems, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and mass spectrometers, DNA and protein sequencers, biosensors, electron and confocal microscopes, cell-sorters, and biomedical imagers.

Submission Limitations

There is no limit on the number of applications that Emory University may submit provided, however, that the applications are for different types of equipment. If two or more applications are submitted for similar equipment from Emory, we must provide documentation stating that that the submissions are not an unintended duplication, but are part of a campus-wide institutional plan.

Internal Coordination Guidelines

Interested applicants are asked to contact Holly Sommers to specify the type of equipment to be requested in their S10 applications. This must be completed by the internal deadline of May 10, 2017. Please review these internal guidelines to get started.

Note: Please view the Shared Instrumentation Grant Program for instrument under $600,000.
