"Investigating the role of CD8+ T cells in HIV/SIV reservoir maintenance in infants"
Alora Colvin is a research specialist in Dr Mavigner’s lab in the pediatric infectious diseases division. She earned her bachelor’s in microbiology from the University of Georgia where her research focused on the symbiosis between the alphaproteobacterium, Wolbachia pipientis, and its host nematode, B. malayi. After graduating she worked for 2 years as an ORISE fellow at the CDC where she used molecular biology and genetics methods to develop quality assurance materials to aid and assist state and international newborn screening labs. At Emory, she is conducting HIV reservoir studies using the nonhuman primate model to investigate immunological barriers to cure for children living with HIV.
