In preparation for the October 12-13 Child Health Research Centers Meeting for the NICHD Child Health Research Career Development Award Program (K12), we have outlined essential information for your participation. Please review all instructions, milestones and resources outlined below to help you prepare for your poster presentation. It is important that you adhere to all milestone dates so that we can ensure a successful event!

Poster presenters will take part in two ways! You will give pre-recorded 3-minute virtual presentations/blitzes and interact with attendees during one of two live virtual poster sessions.

1) Recorded Poster Blitzes – These will be pre-recorded presentations that will be shown during the main part of the conference program. You will need to pre-record your talk using Zoom or similar MP4 video recording solution. It will be presented in rapid fire presentations during “poster blitz” segments of the program.

  •  Presentations must be pre-recorded (3-minute max time limit—strictly enforced)
  • The schedule includes four poster blitz sessions (3 presentations per session) offered over two days; your specific blitz time will be communicated to you soon, although since it will be pre-recorded, this will just be an FYI for you
  • Submission due date for your prerecorded MP4 file is Sept. 24

2) Live Poster Sessions – These will be live virtual sessions using individual poster room links to create spaces for poster presenters to show and discuss their research with attendees. IMPORTANT: Please confirm that you have access to an institutional/professional version of Zoom by Friday, September 4 that allows you to have a session lasting longer than the free version which has a 40-minute time limit. If you do not, then we will contact you to provide an alternate plan.

  •  Two poster sessions (each session 45 minutes) offered over two days
  • Poster presenters will be assigned to one of the two poster sessions
  • Your assigned poster session will be after your assigned poster blitz
  • Once we have communicated the exact time of your poster session, you will create a Zoom link with a password and share this link with Barbara Kilbourne. (One option is to invite Barbara to your calendar invite, but this is not necessary)
  • We will add the Zoom link you created to the program so that attendees can visit your poster during the Poster Session time
  • Again, if you do not have an institutional/ professional version of Zoom, please contact Barbara Kilbourne to provide an alternate plan.

NOTE: Poster presenters will be assigned to one of the two poster sessions

Step-by-Step Instructions for Poster Presenters:

  • Prior to the event, you will record a 3-minute max (strictly enforced) presentation using the attached template of five slides. Save the recorded presentation as an MP4 file. Use whatever video recording solution you like, but we have included Zoom instructions that may be helpful.
  • Complete survey by Wednesday, Sept. 9 for your bio which will be used to introduce you.
  • Email your 3-minute or less presentation to Barbara.kilbourne@emory.edu by Thursday, Sept. 24.
  • Participate in the virtual rehearsal on Tuesday, Oct. 6.  Click here to register.
  • Create a PDF of your scientific poster. (DO NOT use your poster blitz slides as your poster.) Your poster PDF will need to be showing the whole time during your poster session. As in a face-to-face conference, your poster should include the following: title, author names and affiliations, introduction, methods, results, conclusions, and acknowledgements sections.
  • On the day of the event, be present the full 45 minutes in your virtual room to display your poster and interact with attendees to answer any questions about your research. Your presentation date/time assignments and poster session virtual room link will be provided to you prior to the conferenc
