Center for Clinical and Translational Research (CCTR) Directors Named

We are excited to announce that as of October 1, 2019, Claudia R. Morris, MD, FAAP and Miriam B. Vos, MD, MSPH have been named co-directors for the Center for Clinical and Translational Research (CCTR). CCTR is the virtual home for pediatric clinical and translational research at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, Emory University, and our area partners. This Center supports innovative clinical research studies and the translation of basic science discoveries into improved child health.

Dr. Morris, Professor of Pediatrics & Emergency Medicine and Research Director for the Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine has been involved in clinical and translational research for over 2 decades. She has a successful track record of clinical trials leadership, extramural funding, including a recently awarded Pediatric Emergency Care Applied Research Network grant, and a K24 award designed to facilitate her mentor activities of medical students, fellows, and junior faculty. She looks forward to building on institutional strengths through the CCTR to enhance our clinical research capabilities and improve the quality of research mentorship available to junior faculty.

Dr. Vos is a Professor in the Division of GI, Hepatology and Nutrition and Director of Graduate Studies for the Nutrition & Health Sciences Program in the Laney Graduate School.  She has been at Emory for 13 years, and brings a wealth of experience in clinical and translational research. She is currently the overall Co-PI of a multi-center NIH sponsored clinical trial, leads investigator-initiated industry funded studies, and has been successful within the complex funding environment of clinical research from foundation to industry to NIH.  She is especially interested in research process improvements and hopes to use her skills to help pediatric investigators navigate the available resources and educate investigators on clinical research best practices.

Anne Fitzpatrick, PhD, RN, CPNP, MSCR, continues to serve as the Georgia CTSA Pediatric Program Director, and will work closely with Drs. Morris and Vos to integrate CCTR and Ga CTSA activities and services.  Working with the CCTR team will also be Julie Sullivan, Research & Program Manager and Nadine Spring, Director, Emory Clinical Research Services.

Please join us in congratulating Drs. Morris and Vos on their new roles.
