Choosing between Excel, Access and REDCap for your data collection and management needs? Use this chart as a guide.
REDCap is a secure web application for building and managing online surveys and databases. While REDCap can be used to collect virtually any type of data, it is specifically geared to support online or offline data capture for clinical research studies and operations. It is available through both Emory University and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.

Before starting a new clinical research project, assessing feasibility of access to the population of interest is key. There are institution-specific tools for this feasibility step.
- Children's Research Data Request: The Children's Health Informatics Core (HIC) Data Delivery Unit has been established to fulfill research and multicenter quality collaborative data requests. Please contact us for your Children's research data needs using the information below
- Pop Disco: Children’s Population Discovery tool for Epic, accessible via the Children’s Data and Research Data Request Portal (Careforce link) or by emailing data@choa.org
- i2B2: Emory i2b2 lets you query Emory Healthcare electronic health record data for patient counts and aggregate information free of charge, more information and website login
