Qualitative Research Core

The qualitative research core within the Department of Pediatrics, at the Emory University school of medicine, is a multi-disciplinary group of investigators who utilize rigorous qualitative methodologies in the field of health services research.  We study people’s experiences and perceptions in the context of health and healthcare. Qualitative research which is grounded in theories of phenomenology, grounded theory and discourse analysis.  We use a variety of qualitative research methods such as focus groups, interviews, and observations to engage a diverse range of research participants, including patients, caregivers, physicians, policymakers. We provide consultation to support investigators planning to conduct qualitative studies. Assistance is available for design, implementation, and analysis. The qualitative core provides education and research support to fellows and faculty in the conduct of qualitative research.
