Azimi awarded CFF Postdoc Fellowship

Sheyda Azimi, PhD’s proposal aims to uncover links between changes in the population dynamics of Pseudomonas aeruginosa (Pa) and acute pulmonary exacerbations (APEs) in CF patients. She plans to understand the changes in diversity levels to form a novel and personalized treatment plans for each patient; to avoid and limit the incidents of APEs. The overriding aims of her proposal are focused on understanding the Pa population dynamics and its impact on changes in bronchial epithelial cells inflammatory responses that can lead to tissue remodeling and damage during long-term infection of CF lungs.
