My research interests include the examination of neurocognitive factors associated with high sexual risk behavior among adolescents that would increase their risk for HIV and sexually transmitted infections. This interest also extends to the examination of structural and functional prefrontal cortex function, including white matter connectivity and neural networks that are part of the Social Information Processing Network (SIPN), including their association with emotional regulation/dysregulation and their effect on specific decision-making processes. I am also interested in the role of biocultural or neurocultural correlates of sexual decision making and risk behavior among mid-adolescents.
